Introduction
The purpose of this report is to present a brief history of the transistor and its importance in the today’s world. The information included in this report was taken from the website http://es.wikipedia.org.
Definition
The transistor is a semiconductor electronic device which is used in any electronic equipment that people have in their house. For example, home theaters, refrigerators, computers, cell phones, etc. All of them contain millions of transistors.
History
The transistor was invented in 1947 by an electronic engineer called John Bardeen and two physicists, Walter Houser Brattain and William Broadford Shockeley. They worked together at Bell labs in the United States. These scientists won the Nobel Prize in Physics after developing the transistor.
This new device replaced the old valve. This innovation allowed engineers to achieve multiples benefits, like the unnecessary use of energy and electronics growth.
Since the invention of the transistor, electronics has been continuously improving because of the possibility of integration. Today there are millions of transistors in a chip that have sizes of approximately 1 square centimeter.
Conclusion
As a conclusion, the electronics field is constantly growing, and this is because of the invention of some primary devices like the transistor, without which this great evolution would be impossible.
